If you need a little sunshine in your life, put the weekend of September 2 and 3 in your diary because Eumundi’s family-friendly music festival SUNSHINE SOUNDS is back for 2023 as part of the Horizon Festival.
An all-ages music festival, Sunshine Sounds 2023 boasts a phenomenal home-grown line up featuring Frente, Elixir with Michael Leunig, Katie Noonan and string quartet, Abby Dobson, Deline Briscoe, Clea, Eliott, Sue Ray, Cigány Weaver, Jungaji, Fred Leone, Louise King, Sugarbag Blonde, Mark Moroney, Frank and Louis, Layla Barnett and more! It’s a line-up that is predominantly local and SE Qld, with a sprinkling of fabulous talent from south of the border.
We are proud to deliver the third Sunshine Sounds Festival celebrating homegrown artistry on Gubbi Gubbi Country in Eumundi, the creative heartland of the Sunshine Coast.
This year’s festival will take place in the Eumundi School of Arts Hall, a heritage-listed building that has been the hub of community events in the village since 1912.
Presented by Kin Music, Sunshine Sounds is a festival that really brings people together. Gathering through music is so important for the soul, for community spirit and connection.
A key element of the festival is the inclusion of Eumundi School of Music – a super special mentorship program for young musos (8 - 17 years). Read more about the Eumundi School of Music here. Our little rockers will be performing on both days, playing live on the big stage alongside folk-pop legends Frente on the Saturday and with the fabulous Abby Dobson (of Leonardo’s Bride) on the Sunday.
The Sunday program includes the Sunshine Sounds Community Choir, where festival-goers get to join in what promises to be a goosebumps-inducing group sing-song for all ages and abilities. There’ll even be pre-fest rehearsals in the Eumundi CWA Hall for keen beans – on four Wednesdays – July 13 and 27 and August 9 and 23 from 7 - 8pm.
Sunshine Sounds Festival and all its musical and community goodness is made possible with the generous support of our key sponsor Live Music Australia – an Australian Government initiative, and local sponsors the Eumundi District Community Association, Horizon Festival, the Eumundi Historical Association and KIN Music.
Come and soak up the big-hearted groove of this truly special community festival in what we think is one of the best little villages on the planet.
Festival doors open Saturday 2 September 11am – 10pm, and on Sunday 3 September 11am – 8pm.
P.S. Tickets are strictly limited due to hall capacity, so we recommend getting in quick to secure your seats.
